Merve Reyhan Ekinci, a PhD candidate in our University’s Department of Sociology, has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 2214-A International Research Fellowship Program for PhD Students.

Our Department of Sociology PhD student, Merve Reyhan Ekinci, has qualified for support from the TÜBİTAK 2214 International Research Fellowship Program, which encourages PhD students to conduct a portion of their dissertation research at prestigious research institutions abroad. Within the framework of this program, Ekinci will continue her studies at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. Her research will be conducted under the supervision of Professor S. Sayyid, who is internationally recognized for his scholarly work in the field.

Ekinci’s study, titled “Türkiye’s Epistemological Community at the Dawn of Decolonizing Academia: The Conception of Human Being in the Social Sciences,” examines Turkey’s epistemological community at the outset of debates on decolonizing academia. The research critically explores contemporary discussions on the independence of knowledge, epistemological autonomy, and the conceptualization of the human being in the social sciences from a comprehensive perspective.

We congratulate our doctoral candidate Merve Reyhan Ekinci on this significant achievement, which contributes to strengthening international academic collaboration, and wish her continued success in her studies.
