Research Assistant Yunus Yeşil from Sociology Department presented the co-authored study on digital activism and boycott at the ISA’s 67th Annual Convention.

Research Assistant Yunus Yeşil from Sociology Department participated in the 67th Annual Convention of the International Studies Association (ISA) held in Columbus, Ohio. The convention, held between March 22nd and 25th 2026 with the theme “Back to the Fundamentals”, brought together thousands of scholars from around the world.

During the convention, Yunus Yeşil presented the study titled “What Drives Boycotts? Exploring Motivational Frames in Digital Activism”. Co-authored with Assist. Prof. Sümeyye Kaya Uyar and Research Assistant Mustafa Yıldırım from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Ibn Haldun University, the research examines the political consumption preferences of young people in digital spaces.

As part of the study, 4,670 English-language posts shared on X (Twitter) between January 2024 and October 2025 were analyzed using AI-based data analysis methods. The research reveals the moral and humanitarian motivations behind young people's boycott decisions, particularly in the context of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

This academic work will soon be published in the prestigious Journal of Politics and Governance, contributing to the existing literature in the field.
