Visiting Researcher from the Department of Sociology, Dr. Dalal Bajes, Presented Her Paper Titled “The Rhythms of Resistance in Palestine” in Germany
Dr. Dalal Bajes, Visiting Researcher at our University’s Department of Sociology, presented her paper titled “The Rhythms of Resistance in Palestine” at an international conference held in Hannover, Germany.

Dr. Dalal Bajes, Visiting Researcher at Ibn Haldun University’s Department of Sociology, presented her paper titled “The Rhythms of Resistance in Palestine” at the international conference “The Role of Religion and the Arts in Promoting Community Resilience in Contexts of Compounded Crises,” organized by Dar al-Kalima University and held on October 17 in Hannover, Germany. The conference brought together 25 researchers and artists from the region and the diaspora to explore the intersection of faith, art, and social dynamics in times of crisis.

Dr. Dalal Bajes’s paper, titled “The Rhythms of Resistance in Palestine: Political Socialization, Ideology, and Cultural Performativity in Islamic Anthems,” offers a comprehensive analysis of the role of anthems (nashids) in the processes of political socialization within the context of the Islamic Movement in Palestine. The study includes a thematic analysis of 100 songs produced between 1980 and 2012 by music groups and artists associated with the intellectual foundations of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Focusing particularly on Hamas anthems, Dr. Dalal Bajes meticulously examines the evolution of resistance across spatial, practical, and discursive dimensions, positioning these anthems as “expressions of Palestinian subjectivity, ideology, and the symbolic power of the powerless.”

We congratulate our visiting researcher and wish her continued success and impactful contributions.
