The Department of Sociology at Ibn Haldun University will host the book launch of the "Anthropology and Sociology of Emotions: Theoretical and Ethnographic Perspectives from Turkey and Beyond" on Tuesday, December 17th.The book launch will feature authors including Ramazan Aras, Ergün Yıldırım, Christopher Houston, Merve Reyhan Ekinci, Büşra Demirden, and Şeyda Karabatak. The event will take place on Tuesday, December 17th, at 13:30 in the Sociology Meeting Room (ITBF 2.22) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (ITBF), Ibn Haldun University.
Edited by our Sociology Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Aras, this important volume features contributions from many esteemed researchers from both national and international backgrounds. The book was compiled from the papers presented at the workshop titled "Transitions, Precarities, and Politics: Studying Emotions and Affect in Turkey" held at our university on May 5-6, 2023. In this volume, the authors move beyond Eurocentric, secular, and positivist perspectives, offering unique theoretical and ethnographic analyses of emotions and their effects, based on various issues and current crises within the Turkish context.
