SOC 101: Sociology to Understand Society

SOC 101: Sociology to Understand Society
What is society? Why is sociology important for understanding life and people?

As faculty members and students of Ibn Haldun University's Department of Sociology, we are coming to meet high school students. We invite students who want to learn about sociology and gain experience in the field to conduct research. Students who successfully complete their research will be invited to present their work at the 5th Sociology Days Symposium to be held on May 8-10, 2026, at our university. This year’s symposium aims to bring students together around the theme "Society in Motion: Transformations in Power, Knowledge, and Identity" cultural, and political transformations in depth.

Activities for high school students within the scope of the project:

  • Students accepted into the project will have the opportunity to conduct their research under the guidance of our students.
  • Students may prepare their papers in either Turkish or English. Students preparing their papers in Turkish will be advised by national graduate students, and students preparing their papers in English will be advised by international graduate students.
  • Participants will attend sociology classes during campus visits organized as part of the project.
  • Meetings will be arranged where students share experiences with Sociology Department students.
  • Students who follow the program to the end and have their work approved will earn the right to present their papers at the 5th Sociology Days held in May at our university.
