Ibn Haldun University Sociology Department is pleased to announce the 4th Sociology Days and Student Research Symposium. Student Research Symposium will be held on May 9-11, 2025, at Ibn Haldun University, Istanbul, Turkey. This year’s symposium will bring students together to discuss the theme of “Suffering Bodies, Resilience and Resistance”.
Our symposium aims to critically examine globally and historically significant topics such as the Palestinian issue, migration, resilience and resistance tactics, and the right to return. We seek to explore the multifaceted effects of war and migration on individuals and communities, focusing how these processes reshape family structures, gender dynamics, identity formations, and the cultural and sociological consequences of displacement. Additionally, we are particularly interested in the role of narratives and practices of resistance in the construction of identity, belonging, social memory, and social movements. By fostering an interdisciplinary dialogue, the symposium aims to contribute to the development of critical analyses and alternative approaches for understanding and addressing these complex and pressing issues.
We highly encourage submission of papers that explore new approaches and paradigms related to the theme of the symposium. Additionally, we encourage students to engage with and extend their analyses on a number of focal areas such as, but not limited to:
