The thesis titled "The Effect of the Turkish Brigade and Battalion Imams on Koreans' Understanding of Islam in the Korean War and its Aftermath (1950-1958)", which was completed in 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Naoki Yamamoto, was published by Diyanet Publications under the title "Korean Turkish Brigade Imams and Islam in Korea".
The book, which focuses on the religious and moral aspects of the social transformation during the Korean War by addressing for the first time the perceptions of the Korean people towards Islam and Muslims through the national-military culture of the Korean Turkish Brigade and the activities of the brigade imams, was shaped after Öztürk's visit to Korea in 2019 and learning the language of the group he worked with and having the opportunity to conduct one-on-one interviews with the Korean Muslim community and individuals who communicated with the Korean Turkish brigade. In this way, the work enriches the academic perspective by giving the reader the opportunity to read the events from primary sources.
