“Workshop on Migrants and Future Plans in Istanbul” Was Held at Süleymaniye Campus
The “Workshop on Migrants and Future Plans in Istanbul”, which addressed the challenges faced by migrant communities in daily life and their solutions, was held at Ibn Haldun University Süleymaniye Campus, Darulkurra.

The “Workshop on Migrants and Future Plans in Istanbul”, organized by the Sociology Department of Ibn Haldun University, was held on Saturday, February 8, at the Darulkurra in the Süleymaniye Campus. The event, which addressed the challenges migrant communities face in daily life and explored possible solutions, marked the final stage of an eight-month-long field research project.

The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Ramazan Aras, Head of the Sociology Department at Ibn Haldun University. The opening speeches were delivered by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Ibn Haldun University President Prof. Atilla Arkan. The event was also attended by Fatih District Governor Cafer Sarılı and Acting Director of the Istanbul Provincial Migration Administration Hüseyin Kemal İlday. Additionally, representatives from Syrian, Afghan, and Sub-Saharan African civil society organizations participated, contributing to the academic discussions and making the workshop highly productive.

Starting at 9:00 AM and lasting until 8:00 PM, the program involved in-depth discussions on the daily life practices of migrants in Istanbul, the fundamental issues they encounter, and the role of civil society organizations in these processes. As part of the workshop, solutions regarding the social, economic, and cultural integration of migrants were explored. The collected data will serve as a crucial foundation for the final project report, aiming to guide policymakers in their decision-making.

The “Workshop on Migrants and Future Plans in Istanbul” made an important contribution to understanding the social dimensions of the migration phenomenon and to producing sustainable policies.
